About Us

Veterinary laboratory services you can count on in York and Edinburgh

Created as a consolidation of Minster Vets and Poultry Health Services laboratories, our sites in York and Edinburgh offer the very best in veterinary diagnostics and customer service.

With our fully equipped laboratories, outstanding testing equipment and innovative reporting system, we’re able to offer a service that implements the latest technologies and is tailored to the specific needs of clients across the UK.

We’ve been recognised for our high standards too, and we hold UKAS salmonella testing (amongst other diseases), DEFRA, Poultry Health Scheme and Lion Code accreditations. We’ve also participated in a number of government, university and international projects.

Our clean and modern clinical facilities were updated in 2020 to accommodate our precise needs, and the continued expansion of our team and laboratories has allowed us to deliver an extremely fast turnaround on samples and sample reports.

Our large clientele includes veterinary practices, poultry and pig farmers, hatcheries, processing plants, egg packers, feed mills, game bird keepers, pigeon fanciers, food processors and more.

Our broad range of services accommodates both sending samples from anywhere in the UK and clients that prefer bringing samples to us, and we can send reports electronically or via Digiflock, meaning that you can access all your reports at the touch of a button, the minute they are uploaded.

Clients are kept in the loop at every stage, as our facilities allow us to inform you when your samples have arrived and when the testing process has begun.

Our exceptional equipment makes us stand out from the crowd, and we’re proud to offer PCR, sequencing and validated salmonella vaccine differentiation testing.

We also own one of the few BioChek ELISA Assay Robot (BEAR) machines in the UK, which allows us to run multiple enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) instantly.

This machine is highly precise, eliminating the risk of human error, and environmentally friendly, as it reduces the need for single-use pipettes.

Our friendly and knowledgeable team are always happy to answer any questions about the best tests for a client’s needs and discuss any requirements, be that statutory testing, diagnostics or testing for compliance and audits.

Both of our sites have experienced poultry vets on hand to support our clients through giving advice, interpreting results and prescribing (if required). Our shared reporting and management systems ensure a seamless continuity between our York and Edinburgh laboratories.

As part of the VetPartners group, we’re also proud to work as part of a supportive and collaborative network of distinguished veterinary teams across the UK and Europe.
